You’ll need three wool slabs of the same color to make a cushion. Once you’ve placed it, right-click to sit down.
Craft a cushion
Put three wool blocks of the same color in a row on a crafting table. This makes six wool slabs, enough for two cushions.
Craft White Wool Slab
3 × White Wool → 6 × White Wool Slab
Ingredients
Put three matching wool slabs in a row to make a cushion of that color.
Craft White Cushion
3 × White Wool Slab → 1 × White Cushion
Ingredients
Cushions come in all 16 dye colors. You can also find them at Abandoned Camps.
Change a cushion’s color
Put a cushion and a different-colored dye together in your crafting grid. For example, a white cushion and red dye make a red cushion.
Pick the cushion up first—right-clicking it with dye won’t recolor it.
Place a seat and sit down
With the default controls:
- Hold the cushion and right-click the top of a block to place it.
- Right-click the cushion to sit down. Make sure you’re not sneaking.
- Press Left Shift to stand up.
Slabs and stairs work too. The cushion rests on the surface you click, so putting it on a stair’s lower step leaves part of it tucked behind the upper step.
In Survival, hit a cushion once to pick it up. It also breaks shortly after you remove the block beneath it. Fire and lava can destroy it.
Why won’t it place or let me sit?
- Check where you’re clicking. Aim at the top of a block, slab, or stair.
- Give it some space. Another cushion may be in the way.
- Check underneath. The cushion needs a block surface to rest on; water won’t support it.
- Check the seat. It needs to be empty, and you need to stop sneaking before sitting down.
